What does the police report say about Sebastián Avellino?
According to a report by the Sao Paulo Police Department, released Tuesday, July 11, by the Brazilian UOL, Sebastián Avellino said he did not commit a racist act and instead collected work materials on campus.
“Sebastián denied addressing the Corinthian fans and impersonating a monkey; states that he was finishing work and gathering his materials when he was spat on,” the report reads, adding, “He claims he felt saliva on his throat and returned to the crowd just to ask.” : ‘Why are you doing that?’ ‘Spit on me when I’m working?'”.

It should be noted that the police report has already been signed by delegate Vanessa Cristina Macario de Oliveira and sent to the Justice and Public Ministries. The letter also contains statements from the Universitario sports coach.
“He had all his arms full, not to imitate a monkey, but because he was wearing the cones, which had his arms open because he was wearing the cones,” he said.
However, UOL assures that in another part of the report, Avellino contradicts himself and raises doubts with the Sao Paulo police.
“That he doesn’t remember if he opened his arms because he was holding the cones, or if he was just asking the question to the fans, in the sense that he opened his arms to ask, ‘Why are they spitting? At me?’” she detailed.
