Harry Kane has signaled a decision if he keeps

Harry Kane has ‘signaled a decision – if he keeps his word we’ll get him’ – Bayern boss Uli Hoeneß – The Athletic

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has “clearly expressed his decision” to join Bayern Munich, the German club’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß claimed.

The Bundesliga champions’ initial offer of €70m plus surcharges for Kane was rejected last month but Bayern remain interested in signing the England captain.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel has already discussed a potential move with Kane and Hoeneß said at Bayern’s pre-season training camp he was confident of signing Tottenham’s record goalscorer if the player “keeps his word”.

“Kane signaled his decision very clearly,” Hoeneß told SPORT1. “If he keeps his word, we’ll get him. (Chairman) Karl-Heinz Rummenigge speaks to him regularly.”

Kane’s contract with Spurs has one year left and the club are still hoping to persuade him to extend it.

The striker reported to Tottenham on Wednesday for the first day of pre-season and flew to Perth, Australia with the rest of the squad on Friday.

Relations between the two clubs are good: Bayern boss Jan-Christian Dreesen met Tottenham CEO Daniel Levy for breakfast in London on Thursday.

No new offer for Kane was made at the meeting, nor was a price named after Bayern’s initial offer.

Kane’s contract negotiations with Tottenham were put on hold last season as the forward instead focused on helping the club return to the Champions League.

However, the Spurs missed out on European football altogether with an eighth place finish.

Kane is yet to win a trophy at national or international level but broke Jimmy Greaves’ all-time goalscoring record at Tottenham in February when he scored his 267th goal for the club. The following month he became England’s record goalscorer.
