A homeless woman died in a lawnmower accident at Beard Brook Park in Modesto, California.
Modesto Police spokeswoman Sharon Bear said the accident happened around noon on Saturday when a Grover Landscape Services employee was mowing grass. He used a John Deere tractor with push mower.
Bear says the clerk saw a body in an area where he had previously been and called 911.
The woman has been identified as Christine Chavez, 27. Bear says she was sleeping on the grass when the lawn mower ran over her.
The police officer says the investigation into the incident has been completed and it appears to have been an accident. No charges have been filed at this time.
Beard Brook Park was once owned by the city but was transferred to new owner E. & J. Gallo Winery on Friday.
