Forward Tanner Jeannot will remain in the hot Florida sun after agreeing to a two-year, $2.665 million-a-year contract extension with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
This was announced by the Florida organization on Saturday evening.
Tampa acquired the 26-year-old from the Nashville Predators before the last trade deadline. The Lightning’s general manager, Julien BriseBois, had paid dearly to hire Jeannot’s services. BriseBois traded defenseman Cal Foote along with five draft picks, including a first-round pick for 2025.
The Saskatchewan native was discreet on offense at Tampa, amassing just four points, including one, in 20 games. Before joining the Lightning, he had five goals and nine assists in 56 games for the Tennessee team.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound skater is best known for his toughness, as evidenced by his 239 penalty minutes in 172 National Hockey League (NHL) games.
The former Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Junior League were never drafted into the major leagues and signed with the Predators as a free agent in 2018.
