NATO reminded Zelenskyy and Macron of the rules Le Courrier des Stratèges

The NATO summit in Vilnius ended with a cautious – and quite predictable – communiqué. Vladimir Zelenskyy, but also Emmanuel Macron, were reminded of the rules of the game: Washington is not thinking of getting involved in a full-scale war – at least not now and not against Russia. The pill was bitter for the Ukrainian president, but the chances of Ukraine becoming a member of NATO are now slim. As for Emmanuel Macron declaring in November 2019 that NATO was “in a state of brain death,” it seems that by early summer 2023 it would definitely be back in line and well aligned with the rest of the organization. It must be assumed that the looming threat of new uprisings, financed by the American left-wing networks, was a sufficient deterrent.

The final communiqué of the Vilnius summit has 90 points! What better way to say that the last NATO summit was an (almost) ordinary meeting of the organization behind the media noise? Some expected a “historic decision” on Ukraine’s accession to NATO. And we, on the contrary, addressed an end to denial to Kiev, amidst many other considerations.
