A volunteer Santa who appears to have a pathetic love for children has been caught by police for downloading hundreds of child pornography files.
James Jude Silverstone, 62, of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Fla., who works as a city commissioner and is also Santa Claus, faces 10 charges related to distributing child pornography, according to Fox News.
“More than 210 files contained images and videos of child pornography,” the Broward Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
The investigation began in April. Then, in May, authorities searched Silverstone’s home. His electronic devices, analyzed by investigators, revealed child pornography material, which even included babies.
“On these devices, investigators uncovered hundreds of additional videos and photos containing child pornography, some showing young children engaged in sexual activity,” the police statement said.
One of the suspect’s neighbors expressed shock to broadcaster WTVJ. “I can’t believe this happened,” said the unidentified man.
“I’ve known him for 30 years. He’s an extraordinary person, one of the best people I’ve ever had. [connus] …He saved lives. I mean, he volunteers to do anything for everyone,” adds the concussed man.
“I was also with him when he was a volunteer Santa. I mean, he’s just a savvy benefactor,” he explains. “Someone wants to catch him. It is not good. I am angry. And anyone who knows him would, too. I’m shivering. I’m so upset,” adds the neighbor.
