Gigi Hadid was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after she flew to the Cayman Islands from the US last week – with the star apparently quipping about her legal drama in a new Instagram post.
The 28-year-old supermodel, who was traveling with girlfriend Leah Nicole McCarthy, arrived at Owen Roberts International Airport on July 10 in a private jet and cleared customs with her luggage – with customs and border control officials leaving a small quantity of ganja and used paraphernalia found for consuming ganja after scanning her belongings.
The marijuana was found to be for “personal use” only – but Hadid and McCarthy were arrested on “suspicion of importing ganja and importing paraphernalia for ganja consumption.”
The couple were arrested at the Royal Cayman Islands Detention Center and later released on bail pending prosecution, local newspaper Cayman Marl Road reports.
Hadid and McCarthy appeared in summary court on July 12 and pleaded guilty. Both were fined $1,000 and avoided conviction based on their files.
Cannabis is illegal in the Cayman Islands, but limited use of CBD oil for medicinal purposes has been permitted since 2016.
The star later took to Instagram, apparently sharing a nod to her arrest, and posted a series of new bikini snaps from her vacation, captioned, “It’s alright that ends well.”

Hadid’s rep said, “Gigi was traveling with marijuana that was legally purchased in NYC with a medical license.”
“Since 2017 it has also been legal for medicinal purposes in Grand Cayman. Her record remains strong and she has enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”
The star has remained undeterred by the arrest since arriving on holiday, sharing a host of fun bikini snaps and posing with her pals.
This comes after Gigi’s ex Zayn Malik broke his silence on his confrontation with her mother Yolanda Hadid, during which he faced four counts of molestation charges.
The former One Direction star, 30, did not dispute the allegations after allegedly shoving her into a dresser and calling her a “fucking Dutch bitch” in September 2021.
Court documents revealed that in addition to completing an anger management course, he had to serve a 360-day suspended sentence.
During an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Zayn said he felt he “could handle the situation just fine” and described the incident as a “family issue.”
The singer said, “I don’t interfere when people talk online.” My most valuable asset to me is time and I don’t want to justify myself.
“I knew what the situation was and I knew what happened and the people involved know what happened and that’s all that matters.”

“I didn’t want to draw attention and I didn’t want to get a negative result from her.” [or] Any kind of tale that my daughter can eventually read.

On September 29, 2021, Yolanda headed to the property Zayn then shared with his ex Gigi Hadid while she was modeling in Paris.
Zayn was there, but it’s unclear if her now two-year-old daughter Khai was there. What happened next is unclear, but the couple started arguing and Zayn “grabbed Yolanda” and “shoved” her into a dresser.
He also verbally abused her, yelling, “Keep your hands off this.” [my] damn daughter” and called Yolanda a “damn dutch shit”.
He reportedly called Gigi in Paris and shouted to her, “Suck on some f***ing balls and defend your partner from your f***ing mother at my house.”
According to court documents, a security guard was present at the exchange, and Zayn yelled at him, “Get the hell out of my damn house copper.”

Gigi declined to comment in detail on the matter, but released a statement through her representative at the time, which said, “Gigi is solely focused on what is best for Khai.” She is asking for privacy during this time.”
Zayn released a statement on social media confirming there had been an incident, that he had not objected (although it was unclear at the time if he had been criminally charged) and that he was trying to kill his daughter protection.
He denied hitting Yolanda, TMZ reported, citing an unnamed source.
Elsewhere during his podcast interview, Zayn opened up about co-parenting Khai and Gigi, saying, “Co-parenting is good, yeah.” We have a really good relationship with Khai. She is of central importance. It’s going well I think.’
Zayn, who now lives on a farm in Pennsylvania, spoke about giving his daughter as much privacy as possible and feels he “rekindled” his own childhood through her.
