Gigi Hadid was arrested and fined after Customs and Border Protection officers found ganja in her luggage in the Cayman Islands last week.

“Gigi was traveling with marijuana that was legally purchased in NYC with a medical license,” her rep said in a statement to E! News. “Since 2017 it has also been legal for medicinal purposes in Grand Cayman. Her record remains strong and she has enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”

has reached out to Hadid’s rep for comment.

According to local outlet Cayman Marl Road, Hadid and a friend were arrested on July 10 at Owen Roberts International Airport on “suspicion of importing ganja and importing paraphernalia for ganja consumption” after their bags were stolen by officers during the stay had been cleared through customs. The outlet reports that “the quantities were relatively small and appeared to be for personal consumption.”

They were both taken to the Prisoners’ Detention Center and eventually released on bail.

Hadid and her friend pleaded guilty at a court hearing on July 12 and were fined $1,000, according to the outlet. No further charges have been filed and there is reportedly no conviction on her file.

The model has yet to comment on the arrest but did share a series of photos from her vacation on Instagram with the caption, “It’s all good that ends.”
