An apartment building collapsed in Cairo on Monday, killing at least eight people, including seven members of the same family, prosecutors and state media said.

The ministry said in a statement that a building in the Hadayek al-Qobba neighborhood “totally collapsed” and 14 residents lay under the rubble.
Nine people, including one survivor, have been recovered from the rubble by civil protection so far, he added, adding that eight people have died. The search for the other five people continues.

The same source stated that five residents managed to get out of the building before the tragedy.
