Contrary to most of the public, the author of The Shining found the BBC’s coproduction with Netflix quite interesting. This is how he described the series on his official Twitter account. “The BBC’s incarnation of Dracula (Netflix) is clever and engaging. That said, fantastic and VERY gory,” he wrote.
What is The Story of Dracula on Netflix?
The series from the creators of Sherlock, inspired by Bram Stoker’s novel of the same name, presents a different vision of history with characters different from those we’re used to. The plot revolves around an unconventional nun who helps a troubled lawyer sort through the memories of his dark business trip to Count Dracula’s castle.
The Netflix version of Dracula was met with negative reviews despite only having one season and three episodes. However, Stephen King considers it one of the best in the streaming giant’s extensive catalogue.
Claes Bang plays the protagonist while Dolly Wells plays the antagonist Sister Agatha Van Helsing and their daughter.
