Wayne Gretzky’s last Oilers bat is up for auction

A racquet used by none other than Wayne Gretzky in the 1988 Stanley Cup Final was auctioned off by Sotheby’s Sealed.

The item used by “La Merveille” on May 26, 1988 was to sell for $500,000, according to Sotheby’s.

The Edmonton Oilers had won the last game of the Stanley Cup final against the Boston Bruins and were able to secure the precious trophy for the fourth time in five seasons.

“Gretzky had a great career and played for many different teams. “This racquet from the 1987-1988 season represents the period when Gretzky was at his best,” Sotheby’s Brahm Wachter said Tuesday, whose words were reported on the Penta website.

According to Watcher, this artifact marks “a turning point in Gretzky’s illustrious career.” It was his final conquest of the silver salad bowl.

“The fact that Gretzky used the bat during that important Stanley Cup game gives him a certain lust,” said Brahm Wachter.

The identity of the previous owner of this anthology piece is unknown. Watcher said it was time for him to part with it. Interested parties have until July 25 to place their bets.
