A ticket sold in California has won the 108 billion

A ticket sold in California has won the $1.08 billion Powerball jackpot

CNN –

The owner of Wednesday night’s $1.08 billion Powerball drawing ticket on sale at a Los Angeles supermarket has yet to clear the prize, which is among the highest in the game’s history.

The winning numbers were 7, 13, 10, 24, 11 and the Powerball was 24.

According to Powerball, the lucky ticket holder will have a choice of an annuity prize, paid in $1.08 billion in installments over 30 years, or a $558.1 million lump sum payment, both before taxes.

Wednesday’s win is the sixth largest US lottery jackpot and the third largest Powerball jackpot, according to the lottery, behind the world-record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot won in California last year and the Powerball -$1.586 billion jackpot in 2016, according to the lottery.

According to the California Lottery, the ticket was sold at the Las Palmitas Mini Market in downtown Los Angeles. The supermarket will receive nearly $1 million for the sale of the winning ticket.

Even if a single entry has won the jackpot, players are advised to check their entry tickets for the chance of winning any of the other prizes.

In addition to Wednesday’s big winner, there were 36 tickets sold in 16 states featuring all five white balls, generating $1 million in prize money in most states, according to a Powerball press release. Seven of those tickets were sold in California, According to the California lottery site, prizes will be $448,750. California non-jackpot prizes vary based on the number of winners and ticket sales and therefore differ from the fixed prizes displayed on the Powerball website.

The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, according to Powerball on its website.

Prior to Wednesday’s win, there had been 38 consecutive draws without a jackpot winner since the Powerball draw on April 19, when a ticket in Ohio matched all six numbers to win a top prize worth $252.6 million.

“Congratulations to our latest Powerball jackpot winner and the California Lottery!” said Drew Svitko, Chairman of the Powerball Product Group and Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Lottery. “For more than 30 years, Powerball has brought people together to dream big and win big, while raising billions of dollars for causes supported by lotteries.”

Last year, a single winner — also in California — won the Powerball lottery’s record-breaking $2.04 billion jackpot. As a result, the owner of the gas station that sold the winning ticket became a millionaire himself.

For those who didn’t become instant millionaires Wednesday, there may still be hope: the Mega Millions draw. Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot has an estimated value of $720 million and a cash value of $369.6 million.
