An assistant manager at a Burger King in South Carolina faces up to 20 years in prison for serving customers fries straight from the trash, according to local authorities.
Jaime Christine Major, 39, was charged with food tampering on Monday for taking fries from the bin and putting them in the bin where the freshly cooked fries were kept.
According to reports from the New York Post, authorities were called to the franchise’s restaurant on July 9 after two customers caused a scene by yelling at the restaurant staff.
Police eventually handcuffed the two women, who refused to calm down, for disturbing public order, police said daily.
Burger King’s headquarters reportedly only corrected the situation with police two days later, telling them that Major had indeed served fries out of the trash.
After an investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Ms. Major. If found guilty, she faces up to 20 years in prison, according to the state.
