Denys Arcand: “Testament” world premiere in Angoulême

Denys Arcand’s latest movie, Will, will have its world premiere at the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival in France.

Offered in the preview section reserved for major autumn releases, Testament stars Rémy Girard alongside several other big names including Charlotte Aubin, Yves Jacques, Robert Lepage, Sophie Lorain, Marie-Mai, Caroline Néron, René Richard Cyr and Guylaine Tremblay to name a few.

Let’s remember that the feature film was acquired in France by Jour2Fête, which will launch it in a grand European premiere on November 22, 2023 in Paris. Playtime acquired the international distribution rights. In Quebec, moviegoers can discover it in cinemas on October 5th.

At a time of changing identities, Jean-Michel, a 70-year-old bachelor, has lost his bearings in this society. He lives in a retirement home in a Grade I listed building, managed with care and precision by Suzanne. Their calm is shattered by the arrival of young activists demanding the destruction of a historic fresco. Overwhelmed by an era dominated by political correctness, Jean-Michel will regain faith in humanity with the birth of an unexpected love, as we explain in the synopsis.

“Testament is a true radioscopy of our contemporary world with its aberrations, uncommunicability and cynicism, treated through the humor and immense talent of Denys Arcand. The Angoulême Francophone Film Festival is very proud to present the film [première] World on Saturday 26 August, during the 16th edition of the festival”, explained Marie-France Brière and Dominique Besnehard, two general delegates of the festival.

The 16th edition of the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival will take place from August 22nd to 27th. The jury will be chaired by Laetitia Casta and one seat will be taken by Quebec actress and director Monia Chokri.
