The suspect, Reynaldo Chery Toussaint, unknown to Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois’ party, should be officially charged with fraud and theft, according to a denunciation we consulted.

Our parliamentary office understands that the party immediately lodged a complaint after finding that several checks had been cashed without their recipients, workers and suppliers, seeing the color.

The theft likely occurred during the shipping process. Images captured by surveillance cameras would have helped the police to clarify the case.

“We were victims of a theft of envelopes containing checks worth just over $4,000. Police work has made it possible to identify a suspect. We are waiting for the end of the court case to shed light on the events,” confirmed Myriam Fortin, Director General of Québec Solidaire.

“Everyone who was supposed to receive the payment was paid quickly as soon as we became aware of the theft,” she said.

Chery Toussaint is also expected to face charges of possession of narcotics for trafficking in a separate case from March 2023, according to another information.
