While no one won Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot, two tickets sold in New Jersey are worth $1 million each.
The winning tickets sold in the Garden State each contained five white balls for a million-dollar prize, according to lottery officials.
As of early Saturday, the locations where the $1 million tickets would be sold had not been announced.
The absence of a jackpot winner in the final drawing of the lottery game on Friday night pushed the top prize to an estimated $820 million, lottery officials said.
The numbers drawn late Friday were: 29, 40, 47, 50, 57 and Gold Mega Ball 25. No tickets were sold matching all of these numbers for the estimated grand prize of $720 million.
Friday’s drawing featured eight entries of five cue balls for a prize of $1 million. In addition to the two sold in the Garden State, two each were sold in Florida and North Carolina, one in California and one in Michigan, Mega Millions said.
The estimated $820 million in Tuesday night’s next drawing would only be awarded to a winner who chooses an annuity paid out over 29 years. Almost all of the grand prize winners opt for a cash payout, which is estimated to be worth $422 million in Tuesday’s drawing.
The potential jackpot is the fifth largest in the game’s history, Mega Millions said in a statement early Saturday.
Despite the game’s long rating of 1 in 302.6 million, players continue to buy tickets as the grand prize size increases.
The last time a Mega Millions player won the grand prize was on April 18th.
