Jamie Foxx thanks family and fans in first video since hospitalization: ‘I went to hell and back’

CNN –

Jamie Foxx is speaking out for the first time since he was hospitalized with an undisclosed condition in April.

The award-winning actor and musician, 55, posted an Instagram video update to his fans overnight on Friday.

In the video, Foxx addresses the speculation about what led to his hospitalization, although he didn’t give details of what happened.

“I know a lot of people have been waiting or wanting to hear updates, but to be honest I just didn’t want you to see me like that man,” he said. “I want you to see me laugh, have fun, party, crack a joke, do a movie or TV show. I didn’t want you to see my hoses running out of me and I’m trying to see if I can make it.”

Foxx thanked his daughter and sister for saving his life.

“To you, to God, and to many great medical professionals, I leave this video,” he said. “I can’t tell you how great it feels to have your family be a part of this and you all know they kept everything under wraps, they didn’t let anything out, they protected me and I hope that everyone can have that in moments like this.”

Foxx has been spotted in Chicago in recent weeks, undergoing medical treatment at a facility that specializes in rehabilitation treatments for patients with physical disabilities, brain injuries or spinal injuries.

The “Ray” star clarified rumors on social media.

“As you can see, the eyes are working, the eyes are working perfectly. I’m not paralyzed, but I’ve been through hell and back, and there have been some potholes on my road to recovery, too. But I’ll come back and I can work.”

The video comes a few hours after Foxx posted a photo of himself on top of a gold car with the caption “Great things are coming.”

The Oscar winner closed the video by saying, “I love everyone and I love all the love I’ve gotten… If you see me out there from now on and burst into tears every now and then it’s just because it’s been hard man.” I felt sick man. But now I’ve got my legs under me, so you’re gonna take me out.”
