“Some said I was blind, but as you can see, my eyes are working fine,” the comedian joked, blinking one eye in response to speculation about his condition.

“But I went through hell and came out of it, and my recovery wasn’t without obstacles either,” he says, thanking both his admirers for their support and his family for their discretion.

The 55-year-old actor was suffering from a “medical complication” and was admitted to a medical facility in Georgia in the southern United States in April while he was filming a film for Netflix.

His daughter Corinne Foxx a month later insisted on dispelling the rumours, assuring on Instagram that her father “has been out of hospital for several weeks and is recovering”.

“I didn’t want you to see me with tubes coming out of my body and I’m trying to see if I can make it,” he explained, justifying his long silence.

“But I’ll come back and I can work,” he said again.

That same year, he was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Collateral and also made an impression playing a slave trying to conquer his freedom in Quentin Tarantino’s western Django Unchained.
