British Open 2023 Leaderboard: Live Coverage, Rory McIlroy Score, Golf Scores Today, How to Watch Round 3 – CBS Sports

The runaway train has left the station. The question: will anyone be able to catch it? Brian Harman goes down at 10 with a five-shot lead going into the 2023 Open Championship weekend and aims to both lift the Claret Jug and take the Champion Golfer of the Year title. For a man who hasn’t won a PGA Tour event since 2017, that’s quite a task.

Despite his significant lead, Harman will face off against Royal Liverpool supporters as their loyalty is likely to dip in favor of his closest rival, Tommy Fleetwood. Despite being five strokes behind, the Englishman secured his spot in the last pair alongside Harman as he hopes to make the most of his moving day.

Jason Day remains a threat for his second major title from 3 under, while Americans Jordan Spieth and Cameron Young start the third round a shot down. Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy must remove nine punches and nine men from Harman; He will have little margin for error over the next 36 holes in his hopes of making Major No. 5 a reality. Max Homa, Wyndham Clark, Viktor Hovland and Hideki Matsuyama start Saturday, all within 10 shots of Harman but that championship is officially in his hands. It remains to be seen what he makes of it, but we’ll be one step closer to finding it in Hoylake on Saturday.
