Jul 23 (Portal) – Elon Musk said he wants to change Twitter’s logo, tweeting: ‘And soon we will say goodbye to the Twitter brand and little by little to all birds.’
In a tweet at 00:06 ET (0406 GMT) Sunday, the billionaire added to the social media platform: “If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we will release it globally tomorrow.”
Musk posted an image of a flickering “X” but gave no further details. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Under Musk’s turbulent tenure since buying Twitter in October, the company changed its corporate name to X Corp, reflecting the billionaire’s vision of building a “super app” like China’s WeChat.
Twitter’s website says the logo, which depicts a blue bird, is “our most recognizable asset,” adding, “That’s why we protect it so much.”
The bird was temporarily replaced by Dogecoin’s Shiba Inu dog in April, which ultimately helped boost the meme coin’s market value by as much as $4 billion.
Twitter’s latest complication was a lawsuit filed Tuesday alleging the company owed at least $500 million in severance payments to former employees.
Musk’s company has laid off more than half of its workforce to cut costs since it bought the company.
