Elon Musk tweeted on his official account on Sunday that Twitter would change its logo to an “X” and that all birds would disappear from the platform.

In a series of tweets, Musk said, “And soon we’ll be saying goodbye to the Twitter brand and one by one to all birds.”

In the same tweet series, Musk posted “Paint It Black” before launching a user poll on “Change the default platform color to black.”

“If a good enough X logo is released tonight, we will release it worldwide tomorrow,” he continued.

“So but X,” he added above an illustration of the iconic bird silhouette, but against a black background.

One of the richest men in the world, Musk, once known for his innovative efforts through SpaceX and Tesla to launch rockets and build electric cars, is now making headlines with his antics and eccentric remarks on his personal Twitter account — often sharing conspiracy theories and getting into public arguments on the social media platform.

Musk revamped the site after acquiring it for $44 billion in late October. He drastically cut staff and oversaw controversial policy changes that led to frequent service disruptions, all while dishonoring his own reputation, tech watchers have noted.

He has also repeatedly warned that Twitter could be at risk of filing for bankruptcy. This month, he announced that the platform is still cash flow negative due to a 50% drop in ad revenue and heavy debt burdens.
