Runaway fires in Rhodes. At least 30,000 tourists evacuated [VIDEO] Italian agency

AGI – The fires that have been raging on the island of Rhodes for days are now out of control. At least 30,000 tourists, who had to leave their homes and hotels to flee, were taken to nearby islands by Coast Guard boats.

Firefighters, who have been trying to contain the blaze for days, have not let up, fueled by high temperatures and strong winds.

Five helicopters, two of them from the Air Force, and three planes began dropping water, while one firefighting plane from the Czech Republic and two from Turkey are expected later in the day.
