A DoorDash customer angered his delivery driver by saying his 30 percent tip on a $15 order wasn’t enough because of his “nice house.”
dr Ethan Melillo was stunned to receive the rude message from the clerk, who suggested he should have given more than $5 just for the looks and size of his Rhode Island home.
Melillo, who ordered a falafel meal and lemon tea, said the restaurant was 20 minutes from his home – which is a normal distance for his area.
But the generous tip was apparently still not enough for the DoorDash driver.
The pharmacist added that he worked in the food industry before entering the world of pharmacy. “So I know how hard others work, so I try to give more since I’ve been there.”

In the video, he said, “If you tip someone generously and they say, ‘Nice house, thanks for the $5 for a 20-minute ride.'”
“For reference, I live in Rhode Island and a 10-20 minute drive is very common because we probably have the slowest speed bumps in the country.”

His order came to $15 — and he added a $5 tip to the worker. But that wasn’t enough considering how beautiful his house was, according to the message he received.
He added, “The total cost of my meal was $15, so I thought a 30% tip was pretty generous.”
“I’m usually the type of person to tip when I take out food. So tell me how much I should tip for a DoorDash order?’

One person wrote on social media after seeing the story: “Wow… you’re better than me. I would have called DoorDash to get my tip back.”
Another added, “I lived in Rhode Island for 15 years.” 20 minutes is NORMAL. “Your tip was great.”
A former delivery driver said, “A $5 tip for a 20-minute drive is totally reasonable.”
“I don’t understand where all the extra fees are coming from and why we are STILL expected to pay even after paying $10 more for the meal,” said one person on TikTok.
This comes after a DoorDash customer who was scolded on her own porch by an “eligible” driver for tipping 25 percent on a $20 Pizza Hut order is a disabled military veteran.
Mum-of-two Lacey Purciful, 38, told she was in a head-on collision with a suspected drunk driver in March and is currently suffering from serious spinal cord injuries.
Because of this, she cannot cook and relies on DoorDash to support her family.
She was stunned when Corey, the now-sacked worker, in a foul-mouthed interaction filmed on her doorbell camera in Kempner, Texas, suggested that someone who lives in a $500,000 house should have been more generous.
The DoorDash employee shouted “F**k you” before scurrying off her property.
Lacey, a disabled vet said, “I can’t take it.” I’ve been using DoorDash since my accident.
“I worked in the hospitality industry for years before joining the military. I’m very good at tipping.”

“Earlier in the day I tipped a senior DoorDash driver $5.50 for a $17 order of half a dozen donuts – and then I gave him an extra $5.” I’ve tipped him over 50%.’
Her delivery, which went viral on social media, cost $22 — which included a $16 medium-sized pizza and a portion of breadsticks.
The Pizza Hut she ordered from was only six miles from her home in central Texas.
She said the driver, who is described as in his late 20s, ran off her lawn Friday night after shouting the profanity.
Lacey’s husband later contacted DoorDash and they gave him a $5 voucher – but the family wanted to escalate the issue and the company then decided to launch an investigation.
They’ve now gifted Lacey $75 for her troubles – but she said the ordeal was “100 percent” still leaving a sour taste in her mouth.
She said, “I’ve had problems with DoorDash before.” Lacey said that orders are often left at her doorstep without the driver notifying her that they’ve arrived, and that it takes drivers too long for their food to become unedible.
