“Ukraine needs a full air defense shield: this is the only way to defeat Russian missile terror,” Zelenskyy wrote in the Telegram, assuring that Ukraine has already shown its ability “to shoot down even the Russian missiles that the terrorists have boasted about.”
The Ukrainian head of state also stressed that thanks to international assistance and air defense systems to Ukraine, “air defense personnel saved thousands of lives”.
“But we need more air defense systems for our entire territory, for all our cities and towns. The world must not get used to Russian terror: terror must be defeated. It’s possible!” he appealed.
The Military Press Center reported today that 10 civilians were killed and another 43 injured in attacks in 10 regions of the country on Saturday, according to Ukraine’s Defense Ministry.
A civilian was killed and more than 20 injured, including four children, in a Russian attack on the port city of Odessa this morning. Ukrainian air defenses managed to shoot down nine of the 19 missiles fired.
The attack also damaged 25 monuments in Odessa’s historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including a cathedral restored in 2007.
On the social network Twitter, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, classified this attack as “another war crime” by the Kremlin.
The Russian military offensive on Ukrainian territory, launched on February 24 last year, plunged Europe into what is probably the worst security crisis since the Second World War (19391945).
