Russian missiles fired by an airstrike destroyed the largest basilica in the port city of Odessa, Ukraine.
The Transfiguration Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) was consecrated in 1809 and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It was destroyed during the Soviet communist era in 1936 before being rebuilt during Ukraine’s independence. The Russian attack on Sunday (23) destroyed buildings and religious mosaics in the church.
