Paramounts Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One Sure, “Barbenheimer” felt the double win this weekend, but it still managed to hit a significant milestone at the worldwide box office. After almost two weeks in the cinema, the film has finally exceeded its astronomical production budget and added a little extra to it. Dead Reckoning Part One is still a long way from being declared a hit, but the film is making slow and steady progress despite a difficult release and the expected loss of large-format venues this weekend.
Dead Reckoning Part One saw a sharp drop in domestic theaters this weekend as it defied the combined force Greta Gerwig‘S Barbie And Christopher nolan‘S Oppenheimer, which took first and second place with $155 million and $80 million, respectively. Dead Reckoning Part One settled for a third place finish and $19.5 million for its second weekend. The running domestic total is currently an unimpressive $118 million. But the film is holding up in overseas markets, where it grossed a total of $252 million. “Dead Reckoning Part One” has grossed $370 million worldwide.
The film opened last week in a five-day premiere at around $230 million, which was felt to be a bit disappointing given the hefty $290 million budget. Thanks to star’s blockbuster performance, the stakes could also be increased Tom Cruise‘s last movie Top Gun: Maverick, which grossed nearly $1.5 billion in box office worldwide last year. The reviews for the film were excellent, making one wonder why it couldn’t have done better. Cruise’s films tend to have legs, unlike the more superficial blockbusters we typically see these days. But this second weekend was crucial and a 65% drop in domestic cinemas is not an encouraging sign.

How does the film compare to the franchise’s bigger hits?
Even if Dead Reckoning will overtake Part One Mission: Impossible III Within days, that’s hardly something to brag about. It remains the lowest-grossing entry in the long-running action series and has a long way to go before it can match the numbers of some of the series’ more recent hits. In comparison, Mission: Impossible – Fallout retains the top position globally with $786 million, followed by Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol ($694 million) and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation ($688 million). The first Impossible Mission grossed over $450 million worldwide in 1996 and established Cruise as a box office star; the continuation, Mission: Impossible 2grossed $550 million worldwide.
