Novak Djokovic will not be in Toronto

Toronto tennis fans won’t see Novak Djokovic in action in 2023.

On Sunday, Tennis Canada announced that the Serb had withdrawn from the National Bank Open due to fatigue.

The holder of 23 Grand Slam titles has just lost in the Wimbledon final to Spaniard and world number one Carlos Alcaraz.

With that withdrawal, American Christopher Eubanks secured a spot in the main draw for the event, which will be held in Queen City from August 5th to 13th.

“We are obviously disappointed that Novak is not competing at the National Bank Open this year,” Karl Hale, director of the National Bank Open Toronto, said in a statement. He’s a fantastic player and we know our fans were looking forward to seeing him at Sobeys Stadium. He will be missed but we still have a long list of sensational players confirmed for this year’s tournament, including 41 of the top 42 players in the world.
