The program for this Wednesday is as varied as the weather, which is sometimes cold and sometimes hot in mid-August. For this reason, it is a good idea to broadcast a Christmas-themed romantic comedy like Love Actually during the hottest heat wave this summer, or to take a walk around Álava in under 40 degrees in the shade from your sofa at home and with the noise of the fan and the air conditioning in the background like in Travelers Four.
‘Apartment’
Movistar Classics, 19.38
A frame from The Apartment by Billy Wilder.
The apartment. USA, 1960 (125 minutes). Directed by Billy Wilder. Cast: Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine, Fred MacMurray, Ray Walston.
There’s nothing more serious than a well-crafted comedy. Wilder’s films make viewers happier while showing the bitterness of life behind carefree packaging. The apartment strikes an unusual balance between the illusions and misadventures of Jack Lemmon, a clerk who lends his home to his adulterous boss, and a love story. Lemmon will experience a loveable romance, but also sad and heartbroken.
What is Spanish? Wyoming and David Trueba respond in You Are Here.
The sixth, 10:30 p.m
The Great Wyoming and David Trueba in You Are Here.
Today comes a new episode of You Are Here, the show where Wyoming and David Trueba analyze Spain today and yesterday. In this chapter, the presenter and the author go into the garden to answer a question: What does it mean to be Spanish? Both reflect on the homeland and its symbols and meet what they consider to be the greatest Spanish patriot: the Englishman James Rhodes.
Four travelers land in Álava
four, 22.50
The presenter Lucas Goikoetxea in Viajeros cuatro.
Lucas Goikoetxea leads a tour of Álava speaking with marathon world champion Martín Fiz, who acts as a guide through the most famous areas of the capital, Vitoria-Gasteiz; the singer Raúl, who, to the beat of the drum, tells some episodes from the history of the city and the origin of its name; the journalist Isabel Irigoyen, with whom he eats his most typical sweets; chef Beatriz Pascual, who runs one of the oldest salt factories in the world; and Juanito Oiarzabal, star climber with whom he visits the highest peak in Álava, Gorbea.
‘love actually’
Movistar Comedy, 00.00
A still from Love Actually.
United Kingdom, 2003 (130 minutes). Directed by Richard Curtis. Cast: Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, Laura Linney, Colin Firth.
The ultimate romantic comedy, especially when it’s Christmas. Although it isn’t, “Love Almost” is presented as a good option to watch the movie with ice cream and a broken heart, or with popcorn shared between two people. The directorial debut of Richard Curtis, screenwriter of hits like “Four Weddings and a Deathblow” and “Bridget Jones’ Diary,” offers a journey through several parallel stories of love and desire. Some are fun, some are romantic, they form an entertaining puzzle fed by the good work of the actors and the many good songs that make up the soundtrack.
