Fenway Park is one of baseball’s most iconic stadiums, but in its 111-year history, the legendary “Green Monster” never devoured a ball before Wednesday night.
At the beginning of the second inning of this game between the Boston Red Sox and the Kansas City Royals, a ball was hit directly into one of the lights at the bottom of the scoreboard. Kyle Isbel’s hit destroyed part of the red light used to count outs and strikes.

Outfielder Masataka Yoshida searched for the ball for a few seconds, initially thinking it bounced off the wall.
A runner took the opportunity to score, but the run was eventually called off and he was substituted at third base. Isbel, on the other hand, has inherited a double automatic. The Royals failed to capitalize on the advantage as Maikel Garcia was then pulled out to end the inning.
Let’s assume a hit like this doesn’t happen every day.
