Radio star Ray Hadley celebrated his 150th consecutive radio poll win with a bevy of his celebrity media friends in Sydney on Thursday.

Ray looked stunning on the day in a navy suit and white shirt.

The 2GB presenter opted not to draw at the event, which took place at Luke Mangan’s Glass Brasserie at the Hilton.

The 68-year-old media veteran appeared in good spirits as he greeted colleague Ben Fordham and ARLC Chairman Peter V’landys.

They were joined by legendary racing driver Johnny Tapp, journalists Peter Overton and Ken Sutcliffe.

Also in attendance was Ray’s beautiful wife Sophie, who looked picture-perfect in a stunning floral ensemble paired with a stylish pink handbag.

The radio titan told Chron Australia at the event that he had great faith in the younger generation’s work ethic following his monumental win.

“Tony Abbott once said we have leaners and we have lifters, but I think we have more lifters than leaners, and I think the young generation is essentially a generation of lifters,” he said.

“We’re in safe hands.” “Most of the young people I count are hardworking and productive people.”

Hadley, whose contract runs until the end of 2026, went on to reveal what his future holds.

“Peace and quiet!” he joked.

“I don’t want to continue longer than I should or.” [have] When I was 74, someone patted me on the back and said, “Dude, you’ve had your time.”

“I have other interests.” I have an amazing wife, five grandchildren and one on the way…

“I would like to play a more active role in her life, which I could do when I’m not working.”

Back in May, Hadley secured a $10 million deal with Sydney’s 2GB and Brisbane’s 4BC after signing with the broadcasters on a deal through 2026.

Hadley announced the news of his contract extension amid speculation about the future of the veteran broadcaster.

“After sitting down with Tom Malone [Nine Radio’s managing director] “Over an extended period of time and with the support of my wife Sophie, I decided to accept an offer to extend my current contract,” Hadley said.

“I’m looking forward to the next three years as much as I’ve enjoyed the last 22 years at 2GB.”

“I am also looking forward to returning to the Paris 2024 Olympics – my 7th Olympics – and will once again be the lead commentator on swimming and athletics (for Nine Radio).

Notoriously, the station was offered a job at radio while working as a taxi driver in the 1980s after taking the news director with him.

Since then he has become one of the most trusted media personalities in the country, winning 150 consecutive morning radio polls on Sydney’s 2GB.

“People often slander taxi drivers.” I’m referred to as an ex-cab driver as if it’s some kind of embarrassment. But there’s no doubt if I wasn’t driving that cab that Tuesday night, I wouldn’t be speaking to you now,” Hadley told Media Week.
