Former NFL player Buster Skrine ‘arrested after allegedly defrauding Canadian banks of more than $100,000’

Former Tennessee Titans defenseman Buster Skrine was reportedly arrested in Canada on Wednesday.
According to multiple reports, Canadian police have swindled multiple banks across Canada out of more than $100,000.
14 charges were brought against the 34-year-old after a police fraud investigation concluded on Wednesday.
Durhamregion.com reports that Skrine was arrested thanks to Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Peel Regional Police at Pearson International Airport in Mississauga, Ontario.
The outlet reported that police allege that Skrine went to several Canadian banks, identified himself as the former NFL player he was before opening accounts using fraudulent checks, and then acquired a portion of those checks before they were redeemed.

Fourteen charges were filed against Skrine, including four counts of fraud, seven counts of misrepresentation in obtaining money, and three counts of possession of felony-obtained property valued at more than and less than $5,000.
According to multiple reports, Skrine was being held on bail pending a hearing.
Skrine played 11 seasons in the National Football League. He was drafted by Cleveland in the fifth round of the 2011 draft.
After four seasons with the Browns, Skrine signed with the Jets, where he played for three years.
Short stints in Chicago, San Francisco and Tennessee followed before Skrine announced his retirement on July 26, 2022.
