Shohei Ohtani: Giants players are lobbying

The San Francisco Giants players use their streak against the Los Angeles Angels to seduce Shohei Ohtani.

The Japanese superstar could become a free agent by the end of the current season and his rivals at the Giants clearly don’t want to wait to convince him to join them.

“I know the Giants, the Dodgers [de Los Angeles] and the boys [de Chicago] were high on Shohei’s list when he made the leap to Major League Baseball. As there was no designated batsman [dans la Ligue nationale] It wasn’t realistic at the time,” said Giants pitcher Alex Cobb, whose comments were reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.

“Now that there’s no limitation, I think he wants to work in a big market and with a team that can aim for high awards for multiple seasons. There is also a large Japanese diaspora in San Francisco.

“I absolutely see that possibility if we offer him the grand total,” added the shooter, referring to the monster contract that could get the one who’s just as good on the hill as he is on the plate.

Meanwhile, Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford has taken advantage of his club’s recent successes to try and lure Ohtani.

“We’ve won the World Series three times in the last 15 years. “It’s a good start,” he said. This team has proven they are willing to do anything to win. For someone like him who can do anything, the World Series should be his main focus.”

Ohtani has been with the Angels since the 2018 season but has yet to make a playoff game. Going into Wednesday’s games, the Los Angeles club were seven games behind the last playoff-seeded team in the United States.

The 29-year-old is enjoying a fantastic season on an individual level. He hit .307 at bat and hit 40 homers in 423 plate appearances. Ohtani is also 9-5 with a 3.32 ERA in 21 starts on the mound.
