After successfully completing his second weight class to make boxing history, Terence Crawford is once again plotting promotion through the divisions.

Crawford defeated Errol Spence Jr. in Las Vegas last month to become the first undisputed male twoweight champion of the four-belt era. He cleaned up all the marbles at welterweight, having already conquered junior lightweight.

And while Spence was set to face his toughest test yet — on paper, at least — there’s another undisputed king on a heavier throne who would pose an even greater challenge: Canelo Alvarez.

The ease with which Crawford shredded Spence in a match between two current pound-for-pound champions was breathtaking, so much so that fans are now demanding the Nebraska fighter put on significant weight for a megafight with Canelo .

The Mexican currently holds all four world super middleweight championships and has even secured a light heavyweight title, which would mark a significant step up.

Still, Crawford is willing to make it at 160 pounds or a catch weight just under middleweight.

When asked if he would have a fight with Canelo on The Breakfast Club, Crawford said, “We can do something at catchweight.” Probably 160 or something. 158, 160, that would be cool.’

Host Charlamagne tha God then asked who would emerge victorious in this proposed duel, to which he replied, ‘Crawford.’ Come on man…’

Although Crawford welcomes a possible showdown with Canelo, he says there have been no discussions about the fight and the Guadalajara man is instead focusing on his duel with Jermell Charlo next month.

“No, no, no,” Crawford said when asked if talks had taken place. “They know they’ve already focused on what’s ahead, that’s Jermell.”

“I would never try to interfere with what’s going on.”

Charlo, another undisputed champion who currently tops the junior middleweight division, has also emerged as a potential opponent for Crawford after the two were spotted exchanging words in his recent win over Spence.

The welterweight champion opened up about their argument on Shawn Porter’s podcast, The Porter Way this week, telling his former opponent that he called him “ab***ha**n****.” Charlo has already thrown down the gauntlet to a grudge fight should he shock the world against Canelo.

However, Crawford does not expect that.

“I have Canelo,” he said of the September 30 fight. “I think it’s going to be a good fight.”

“I think a lot of people sleep on Charlo, but he’s agile, he’s tall – he’s taller than Canelo, even though Canelo is heavier in weight.”

“Canelo will be stronger than him, Canelo will be stronger than him but at the same time I think Charlo has the skills to make it a competitive fight.”

“Use his jab, his straight punches and don’t get caught up in all the fainting spells and other things Canelo is doing.”
