Forest fires in Hawaii: Actor Jason Momoa is inconsolable

Honolulu, Hawaii-born actor Jason Momoa says he is devastated by the raging wildfires in his home state.

The devastating fires of the past few days have claimed at least 55 lives and burned more than 1,000 buildings in the city of Lahaina, which has been almost entirely decimated downtown.

“We are devastated and heartbroken for our friends and ohana (family) on the island of Maui who have been impacted by the recent wildfires,” Jason Momoa said on his Instagram account.

The actor, known for his roles in the series Game of Thrones and the movie Aquaman, also shared links to organizations helping the victims of this tragedy.

Local authorities believe the death toll from the fires could increase as the search for missing people continues.
