“Also runners, what conflicting beliefs, myths and advice have you heard?” Are we getting enough training guidance over the 9 months? I’m filming an article for @BBCBreakfast about it.’

Her post drew numerous comments from women who shared their current or past experiences of exercising during pregnancy.

One wrote, “I took Body Combat classes up to week 33, then I felt like it was time to rest!” I took Sh. up to 6 days before my scheduled CS at week 39 ‘Bam courses attended. I felt great, had loads of energy for the courses I love and had lower options available when I needed them. So why stop?

While another shared, “The gym — a class called Pregnancy Power Up — was vital to my mental health during pregnancy.” Our trainer tailored everything to our specific needs (e.g. I had pelvic girdle pain and was unable to therefore do not do asymmetrical things). At 39 weeks I was deadlifting, benching, squatting and rowing!’

“I’m still exercising at 29 weeks but I don’t think we’re getting enough guidance on what’s safe and everyone has different opinions.” I love the exercise and hope to continue through to delivery. I’d love to raise awareness!’ commented a third.

And another added, “I was 6 months pregnant with my two daughters and went through easy labour.” I got funny looks at times, but it helped me deliver two healthy girls without complications. Helped my hormones too!’

Emma is currently deputizing for presenter Nina Warhurst on BBC Breakfast as she takes maternity leave after giving birth to her third child.

And off screens, Emma has been documenting her own pregnancy and sharing snaps of her growing belly.
