Fighting cancer: The wife of a suspected killer could lose her insurance

The wife of suspected Gilgo Beach, Long Island killer Rex Heuermann is reportedly on the verge of losing her insurance, which allows her to be treated for skin and breast cancer.

According to the New York Post, Asa Ellerup has been battling cancer for several years. The 59-year-old would still need 12 to 18 months of treatment. However, the daily has learned that she only has two months to claim the insurance, as it came from architect Rex Heuermann’s insurance policy.

According to family attorney Robert Macedonio, the policy will last as long as the defendant’s architectural firm is able to pay the fees.

“It’s a great fear and burden for them on top of everything that’s happening,” the attorney said.

The lady and her two children Christopher Sheridan, 33, who has special needs, and Victoria Heuermann, 26, returned to the family home last week for the first time since Rex Heuerman was arrested for the murder of three women.

He’s the prime suspect in a fourth murder.

The women’s bodies were all found on Gilgo Beach, a few miles from his residence.

At the end of July, Asa Ellerup said that the whole family was devastated since the arrest. His daughter feels like “an animal” when she thinks of what Rex Heuermann would have done.
