Russian forward Evgeny Svechnikov signed a two-year deal with Ak-Bars Kazan of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) on Friday, ending his stint in the National Hockey League.
The 26-year-old left winger played with the San Jose Sharks last season. In 59 games for the California team, he recorded eight goals and six assists for 14 points, while earning just 22 wins overall.

Andrei Svechnikov’s brother previously played for the Detroit Red Wings and the Winnipeg Jets. He also wore the Kazan shirt in three matches in 2013–2014 and also played for that organization’s junior club.
A few days ago, the Sharks gained additional experience on the left wing with the signing of Mike Hoffman, who previously played with the Montreal Canadiens.
