For the second time this season, 2022 Cy-Young Trophy finalist Alek Manoah was brought back to the minor division by the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.
The right-handed pitcher has been struggling on the mound this year and will regain his confidence in the AAA ranks in Buffalo. That’s several notches up from his last relegation in June when he was sent to the Florida Training Complex League.

In his last start Thursday night against the Cleveland Guardians, Manoah allowed four runs and four hits in as many innings. His ERA is up to 5.87 and he’s up 3-9.
Without the 25-year-old shooter, the Jays will continue the season with a rotation of five starting pitchers. Kevin Gausman, Jose Berrios, Yusei Kikuchi and Hyun-jin Ryu have been doing a good job lately, propelling Toronto (65-52) firmly into third place in the AHL East Division. They also recalled right-hander Hagen Danner from the AAA ranks.
John Schneider’s men meet the Chicago Cubs (59-56) in the evening.
