Selena Gomez was delighted to support Miley Cyrus’ upcoming single “Used To Be Young” after announcing on the same day that she would also be releasing new music.
The 31-year-old Wolves hitmaker, who revealed Thursday she’s releasing “a fun little song,” took to her Instagram Stories on Friday to find humor in both stars releasing tracks next week, August 25 become.
The Rare Beauty founder shared a clip from a Hannah Montana episode in which she portrayed Cyrus’ rival Mikayla Skeech on the hit Disney Channel series.
She also added text below the video, writing to her 427 million fans and followers, “@mileycyrus and I both have a SINGLE coming up and we’re releasing it on the same day.”
“We’ve been friends since we were young,” Gomez added, referring to the title of Miley’s single. “Looking forward to August 25!!!”

“I decided to release Used To Be Young on August 25 because historically that particular date was important to me personally and in my career,” she explained before the video ended abruptly.
Her eighth studio album, entitled Endless Summer Vacation, was released earlier this year and included hits like Flowers, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
The album’s lead single also made it onto the disc, becoming the first and fastest song in Spotify history to surpass one billion streams.
Ahead of the release of her singles, Selena not only showed her support for Miley on her Instagram Stories, but also uploaded other snaps capturing special moments in her life over the past few days.
