Democratic Senator John Fetterman unveiled a new look on Saturday that he literally flaunted because he lost a bet with his 13-year-old son – and people are drawing comparisons to Walter White.
Fetterman, who made headlines for his six-week hospitalization for depression in early 2023, posted a tweet showing him with a shaved goatee, of which only a mustache remains.
“I lost a bet with Karl,” Fetterman tweeted, referring to his 13-year-old son. His wife Gisele Baretto Fetterman later tweeted that the bet involved a chess game between the two.
Fetterman’s wife appeared to approve of the new look, but couldn’t help but joke, “I never knew he had a chin,” as the caption captioned a photo of the two on “date night.”
She included a screenshot of a text message from Fetterman showing off the mustache, to which she replied, “I’m stoked.”

The photo drew comparisons to many real and fictional men with mustaches, including Bryan Cranston as Walter White in Breaking Bad.
Others on social media noted that he resembled various celebrities, with one drawing a comparison to Bryan Cranston’s famous role as Walter White on Breaking Bad.
“I caught a bit of Walter White there, useful for negotiations,” said one approving reaction.
When one Twitter user suggested, “You look like a store teacher.” Just saying,” another replied succinctly, “more like a chemistry teacher.”
Cranston’s Walter works as a chemistry teacher before selling meth to save his family while he dies of cancer.
“You can now be G. Gordon Liddy on Halloween,” added another commenter, referencing the infamous former FBI agent.
A friendlier commenter joked that Fetterman “Dr. Oz punches, bends and turns to Dr. Phil transformed”.
In a November 2022 election, Fetterman ran alongside daytime television doctor Mehmet Oz.
Featured for a Time Magazine cover story this month, the senator said it was his debate against Republican Senate nominee Mehmet Oz that led to his depressive episode.

He even revealed that he recorded a goodbye message to his children after suffering a stroke last spring.
The senator still suffers from auditory processing problems 14 months after the stroke.
While the debate against Oz represented a breaking point, the January suicide of New York Times journalist Blake Hounshell — whom Fetterman knew personally — hit Fetterman hard and contributed to his decision to seek help.
Just days before the Democratic primary, Fetterman experienced his first major challenge in a year — the stroke.
While campaigning near Lancaster, Gisele noticed her husband’s face was sagging and immediately drove him to a hospital.

He won the Democratic primary with ease and spent the day of his victory under anesthesia after being fitted with a pacemaker.
Time reported that Fetterman recorded a video message to his children – Karl, 14, Grace, 11, and August, 9 – in the event of his death.
Fetterman stayed away from campaigning for most of the summer to recover from the stroke.
However, he had returned by August and managed to survive a standard blunt speech, making a few mistakes, but the debate was the event that really highlighted just how much progress he still had to make to fully recover from a stroke recover.
Despite the debate performance, Fetterman beat Oz, the Trump-backed TV doctor, by a five-point margin.
