Bo Bichette’s return benefits the Blue Jays

The return of Toronto Blue Jays star shortstop Bo Bichette gave the Toronto team a boost as they defeated the Cincinnati Reds 4-3 at Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park on Saturday night.

Bichette finished the game with a hit and an RBI.

The Jays’ offense got underway in the fourth inning with a three-point drive. It all started when Daulton Varsho placed the ball in a safe spot in midfield and Cavan Biggio, who was on second base, scored. Whit Merrifield and Bo Bichette also contributed in this round, each scoring a point on the board.

However, the Reds immediately leveled the game in the fourth inning. The highlight of that offensive sequence was the point scored by Elly De La Cruz. He hit the fence first, making it easy to get to third base. The 21-year-old athlete then took advantage of a poor shot to go to home plate and score the deciding run.

A lap later, the guests won by taking the lead in a duel for the second time. Davis Schneider timed his third home run of the season and put the Toronto team in the driver’s seat for the remainder of the duel.

Despite allowing three runs in the fourth inning, Jays starter Chris Bassitt had a great showing on the mound as he notched six strikeouts in as many innings of work.

Due to Bichette’s return to the roster, Jays shortstop Paul DeJong, who was acquired by the St. Louis Cardinals at the close, has been given an exemption.

DeJong hasn’t had much success since arriving in the Queen City. In 13 games with Canada’s only major league club, he posted an unconvincing .068 plate average.

Sensational Trea Turner

Philadelphia Phillies Trea Turner had a strong game against his former team, the Washington Nationals, who lost 12-3 at Nationals Park on Saturday afternoon.
Turner hit two solo homers in the eighth inning and led the team to victory.

Nick Castellanos was also dominant in the matchup with four RBIs.
