Britney Spears was reportedly living apart from Sam Asghari before their recent split.
The 41-year-old pop star had wanted a “fairytale-like” love story, but often felt depressed as her now-estranged husband frequently “disappeared for several months” to film.
An insider revealed to Page Six that she had been depressed for some time before “shocking” her with a divorce and a spate of dramatic lawsuits.
“Britney wanted a fairy tale and she didn’t get it,” the source said. “She felt that Sam’s love wasn’t unconditional.”
The singer supported him financially and showered him with lavish travel, but he was still “not particularly present.”

“Of course she feels disappointed,” the insider continued. “Anybody would if your partner wasn’t providing for you in the way you think they should.”

Despite all of that, the source claimed that he didn’t show up for her in the way she needed him to.
“He wasn’t particularly present,” the source told the publication. “You just have to ask: where was he when Britney was filming all her Instagram videos?”
They also revealed that they were often apart as Asghari left the two to film and work on his burgeoning acting career.
“He just disappeared to film for months and she was left all alone,” the insider added. “There were times when he just got up and left.”
Recently, while Spears was looking dejected as she embarked on a lonely late-night food spree, Asghari shared playful and light-hearted Instagram posts.
On Saturday, he shared a photo of himself in “disguise” after trying on various accessories to change up his look and asked his followers to help him hide from photographers.

He sought out his followers by playfully sharing three pictures of himself in costume and launching a poll asking which picture would help him avoid attention.
In the first option, he transformed his typically short and dark hair into a wig of scruffy silvery waves.
He also jokingly tried to hide his recognizable looks with oversized glasses and a long, gray mustache over his usual beard.
For his second, not-so-subtle look, he wore a curly brunette wig on top of his head and donned brown tinted aviator sunglasses.
He also shared a selfie of himself holding a mouse-covered mop, which was swept aside as he smiled at the camera and posed in the snap.
It was recently revealed that the now-separated couple are letting their lawyers do the talking during their impending divorce.
The couple, who announced their split on Aug. 17, no longer live in the same house and have stopped all communication, according to TMZ.
Insiders revealed their relationship got “really nasty” after Sam left the house and they hadn’t communicated since he left.

As such, they have now left all communications to their legal teams, who have handled all negotiations and other matters for the couple.
According to court documents, the Special Ops: Lioness star cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for wanting to end their 14-month marriage.
He is asking for spousal support and for Britney to pay his legal fees.
Spears first commented on the split late Friday, posting a lengthy statement alongside a dance video on Instagram.
While discussing the end of her marriage, the pop star revealed to her more than 42.1 Instagram followers that she was “a little shocked”.
“Honestly I couldn’t take the pain anymore!!!” She captioned a video of her dancing in her living room. “In a kind of telepathic way I’ve received so many messages from friends that have melted my heart and thank you!!!”
She continued, “I’ve been gaming at full blast for far too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that!!!”
The mother-of-two went on to admit that she’d love to show her “feelings and tears” online but always feels the need to “hide” her “weaknesses”.

In footage uploaded to her account on Friday night, the performer looked in high spirits as she smiled and twirled in a tiny black crop top and a pair of low-rise neon green bikini bottoms.
Over the years, the star has spoken about sharing videos of herself dancing as a source of “healing” after being fired from her conservatory position.
Last year, she told her followers that she “tapped 30 videos of dancing” while on vacation in Maui.
“I’m having fun!!!” she explained. I know I’m not the best dancer, a lot of people make fun of the way I move, but honestly, as long as I’m moving and somehow expressing my body outward at that point… it’s healing for me me!!!” she added.
The pair met when Sam starred in Britney’s 2016 slumber party video while she was still under 13-year guardianship.

The couple walked down the aisle in a small but lavish ceremony last June, which was attended by guests including Selena Gomez, Madonna, Paris Hilton, Donatella Versace and Drew Barrymore.
Britney has reportedly hired celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasserman to represent her side in the negotiations.
On Thursday, TMZ reported that Sam had suspected the Grammy-winning singer had cheated on him with a co-worker at their home in Southern California, and that video footage shot at the property alleges Britney’s infidelity.
Sam suspected Britney – who has been described as “in a fragile and hypersexualized state” – had also asked a staff member to film her nude.
It’s unclear if the employee she allegedly asked to film her is also the same person she reportedly cheated with.
Britney’s alleged behavior was described by an outlet source as risky “for her own safety”; and that it was her infidelity that made Sam go ahead with his divorce filing.
It has been alleged that Britney had physical contact with Sam on several occasions during their relationship and once allegedly gave him a black eye while he was sleeping.
Asghari reportedly told friends the pop princess would attack him during their seven years together, sources told TMZ, adding that there were numerous fights that required security to intervene between the two.

Her latest update comes after learned she is refusing to cede custody of her two dogs to her ex in their bitter divorce battle.
In Asghari’s petition for divorce, he demands that the singer be obliged to pay spousal support as well as his legal and court costs. He’s also asking for “separate assets” and “miscellaneous items” – which Britney fears may include the two adopted dogs he gave her, a source close to the pop star has now revealed.
Speaking exclusively to , the Spears family insider revealed that Britney – who has hired notoriously tomboyish Hollywood divorce attorney Laura Wasser – is confident her team will ward off any claim Sam might make on her fortune can – but she is She is deeply concerned that her beloved puppies may be at greater risk.
The former currently share two dogs: a Doberman pinscher named Porsha, whom Sam gave to Britney in 2021, and a German shepherd named Sawyer, whom they adopted earlier this year.

A month after he proposed to Britney (in October 2022), 29-year-old Sam Asghari, who is now divorcing Britney, announced he’s bought his ex, a Doberman pinscher (seen here), to to “protect” them.
“Over the past week, Britney has received calls and texts from everyone she knows, including people she hasn’t spoken to in years.

In Sam’s divorce document, filed in LA Superior Court last week, he indicated that he would file for divorce due to “irreconcilable differences.”
He has ticked the boxes indicating that he wants spousal support and that Britney will pay attorney and court costs.
Regarding property, the document states, “Plaintiff has yet to determine the full nature and amount of each party’s assets and liabilities.” There are various assets and liabilities of the community and quasi-community, the full nature and amount of which depends on plaintiffs are currently unknown.”
However, it looks like he’ll be missing out on his multimillion-dollar spousal support claim as there was a huge loophole in the ironclad prenuptial agreement.
The agreement reportedly includes a section stating that Sam would receive $1 million in spousal support every two years that they are married. Although they have been together since 2016, their marriage only lasted 14 months.
However, sources have told TMZ that while Sam won’t be able to get support from his wife as a result of the marriage, he could receive a one-off check from Britney to prevent him from revealing any “embarrassing information” about their marriage.
The marriage contract is believed to contain an “extensive confidentiality clause” that prohibits Sam from speaking about his relationship with Britney.
Britney and Sam’s lawyers are said to be negotiating, and it’s likely the singer will write a one-off check for several hundred thousand dollars to maintain the confidentiality clause.
Should Sam break the agreement, he would have to return the money.
Sam had denied claims he wanted to contest his $10 million prenup with Britney.
But Sam’s rep Brandon Cohen has now denied those claims, telling the Hollywood Reporter: “There have been many allegations that Sam is challenging the prenuptial agreement and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with videos.”
“However, all of these claims are false and no negative intent has ever been directed against them and never will be.” Sam has always supported them and will always support them.’
Additionally, it seems unlikely that Sam will take much from his marriage to Britney, as the prenup states that he was entitled to “$1 million every two years” of their marriage, with a $10 million cap after 15 years to US Weekly.
Sam has also reportedly renounced any claims to Britney’s music collection and his name is not listed on the deeds of their shared home in Thousand Oaks, California.

The couple invested $11.8 million in the property, but a large chunk of that came from Britney’s fortune.
According to the marriage contract, Britney and Sam agreed to transfer the home to a limited liability company, or LLC, in the event of a divorce.
Since she and Sam tied the knot, Britney has increased her fortune by signing a $15 million deal with publishers Simon & Schuster for a full-length memoir called The Woman In Me.
The star also returned to music by releasing two new singles, a new version of Tiny Dancer with Elton John and Mind Your Business with will.i.am.
Britney also signed a basic rights agreement for the jukebox music Once Upon a One More Time, meaning she can receive revenue from ticket sales, as well as touring and licensing.
It is currently unclear if the prenuptial agreement states if Sam is entitled to the money they made after their marriage.
