Nothing’s right for the Yankees: ‘They kicked our ass’ – Aaron Boone

Things are only getting worse for the New York Yankees.

On Sunday, the Bronx Bombers suffered a 6-5 loss to the Boston Red Sox. It was their eighth consecutive loss, the team’s second-longest losing streak since 1995.

“They kicked our ass,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said at a post-game news conference.

The Big Apple Club has maintained a poor record of 8-1 against their Massachusetts rivals in 2023. The Red Sox also led 54-24 in nine games this season.

According to FanGraphs, the Yankees’ chances of making the playoffs increased to 0.5% after the three-game streak against the Sox. The latter were able to increase their chances to 15.8%.

After completing most of Sunday’s Major League Baseball games, the New York lineup was nine games behind the Seattle Mariners, the club currently tied for last in the United States playoffs.

“We’re in a deep hole,” Boone said. We can’t even think long-term. We have to take it one day at a time. Here we are. We’re in hot water.”

The Yankees will look to get back to winning ways in Tuesday’s first of a three-game series against the Washington Nationals.
