Spanish soccer player Olga Carmona learned of her father’s death just hours after winning the Women’s World Cup on Sunday morning.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation made the announcement on its X (formerly Twitter) account.
“We regret having to inform you of the death of Olga Carmona’s father, we can read in the publication.” The player only found out the sad news after the World Cup final.

“Our sincere condolences go to Olga and her family at this time of deep pain,” it said.
The player first spoke up after learning the news via a post on her X (formerly Twitter) account earlier in the evening.
“I know you gave me the power to do something unique,” she wrote. I know you saw me tonight and were proud of me. rest in peace dad

The one nicknamed Olga scored the only goal of the game against England in the 29th minute, allowing her country to lift the precious trophy.
She had also dedicated her goal to the late mother of one of her friends by showing her name on the sweater she wore under her leotard.
