A Philadelphia woman who received a $300,000 settlement after suing the city for an arrest on a driving charge has been jailed for another drunk driving offense.

Khasandra Franklin, 27, was arrested in September 2020 for allegedly trying to evict an assistant district attorney off the street.

Franklin filed a lawsuit alleging false arrest as well as assault, assault by authorities and malicious prosecution, ABC News reported.

The city chose to settle the case against a sum of $300,000 that arrived in Franklin’s bank account just 85 days after the lawsuit was filed.

The payout was the fourth-highest in the city for assault and assault in the past six years and more than five times the average compensation.

In September 2020, Franklin was charged with trying to get Assistant District Attorney Voci off the street.

She was arrested and held for aggravated assault but denied the allegations.

The charges were dropped on the condition that Franklin submit to a drug and alcohol investigation in a then-pending DUI case.

She then sued the city and won the hefty payout.

The DUI case related to an incident that occurred in January 2020 when Franklin was in a car accident in Hatboro, Pennsylvania while under the influence of alcohol.

During the arrest, Franklin threatened to sue and verbally abused an officer when asked for a breath test.

She later pleaded guilty to the charges stemming from that incident.

Franklin was sentenced Friday to three to 12 months in prison and five years probation on a second charge of drunk driving.

The verdict related to an incident that occurred at 4:30 a.m. on September 16, 2022, when police pulled over Franklin and performed a DUI test after she was seen merging into the wrong lane on I-76 direction and caused a head-on collision.

Franklin pleaded guilty to hit-and-run after receiving her $300,000 in compensation.

Lawyers have pointed out that City Council President Darryl Clark raised concerns about the cost of such a civil lawsuit settlement at budget meetings last March.
