The journalist and screenwriter Réjean Tremblay, who has just left Journal And The Journal of Quebecis working on a new series entitled the 7th for VAT.
The man who celebrates his 79th birthday on Thursday spoke about this on Monday at the microphone of Pénélope McQuade at ICI Première.
With this novelty – the scenarios were delivered, as he mentioned – the author of “Lance et compte” takes a renewed interest in our national sport, which he has been reporting on as a journalist for more than 50 years. Created by Mr. Tremblay, the new characters are part of the management of the Montreal team that plays in the National Hockey League.
“The 7th is the Bell Center, where all the decisions are made regarding the CH group, the Canadiens, etc.,” Mr Tremblay said, revealing that the ice hockey team in the series will be called The Victorias, the same name as the formation that preceded the Montreal Canadiens in the hearts of Quebecers from 1883 to 1908.
In The 7th, the owner of the team is not called Geoff Molson as in reality, but LP Morgan.
Consider sensitivities
Réjean Tremblay told Pénélope McQuade that “modern writing” means that the texts of the first Lance et compte “would not go beyond the level of current writing” because we have to consider the sensitivities of all communities.
“The players [du National dans Lance et compte] made a black face to show their support for Pierre Lambert, who was in love with a Haitian. […] “The company wasn’t there in 1986,” added Mr Tremblay, who now has a daily column on air with BPM Sports.
At the time of writing, it has not been possible to speak to anyone at Quebecor Content to find out more about this new series, specifically when it will be filmed and aired.
