Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy is oddly at war with baseball team Savannah Bananas.
Dubbed the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball, the Bananas have found notoriety lately as videos of their outlandish stunts performed during games have gone viral on social media platforms.
But while social media is fueling the TikTok sensations, they don’t seem to have convinced Portnoy, who recently bought back his company for $1 after previously selling it for $388 million.
“I’m so damn sick of Savanah Bananas,” Portnoy tweeted Monday.
Another account tweeted in response, “Maybe they’re sick of you too,” causing some shadowing on the official Bananas account.

Portnoy fired off a tweet expressing his dislike for the bananas that had sparked the online war
“Barstool is in our DMs every day asking to redesign our videos,” the Bananas wrote. “We’ll let Dave have his moment.”
A social media account then asked the Bananas to “drop the DMs” as proof, which the team kindly obliged to do.
The screenshot was captioned “You said so, not us” and showed two separate messages from the verified Barstool account requesting permission to repost the Bananas videos.

In a separate thread on Twitter, a user asked the Bananas for confirmation that Barstool Podcast host Marty Mush was doing batting drills with the team, which they also had no problem with. “Yes, he was,” replied the bananas. “It’s almost like everyone at Barstool is a big fan.’ Strange.’
Portnoy then wrote, “Someone told @TheSavBananas I only owned Barstool last week.”
‘I’m back. The lame shit is out. Congratulations on having low-rent talent making lame videos. Oh, Marty Mush took BP! You prove my point.’
In a separate post, Portnoy shared the link to a Barstool blog where he ripped off the team, which he called his “new enemy.” The post was captioned, “They think the Savanah Bananas are cool because Marty Mush took BP.”
