Alleged relationship with a minor: a player suspended from Major League Baseball

Wander Franco of the Tampa Bay Rays was placed on the Major League Baseball ineligible list after allegations that he was off the field.

In a brief statement, a copy of which some sources, including the Tampa Bay Times, obtained Tuesday, the Rays mentioned that the Manfred circle is continuing its investigation. Additionally, the decision is unrelated to the league’s policy on domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse.

The 22-year-old, who was invited to this year’s All-Star Classic, faces embarrassment after a 14-year-old minor took to social media earlier this month to claim she had an inappropriate relationship with him. Investigations are also underway in the Dominican Republic, Franco’s country of origin. The latter was later linked to a second complaint of this nature.

This season, the Rays player has hit a total of 17 homers, 58 RBIs, and 30 stolen bases. In late November 2021, he signed an amazing 11-year contract worth $182 million.
