The Denise Pelletier Theater is looking to expand its faithful base in its Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood of Montreal. To this end, the establishment on rue Sainte-Catherine Est invites residents who have never visited the venue to visit four plays from the 2023-2024 program free of charge.
Launched on Tuesday, the TDP project, Your Neighborhood Theater, will allow 500 curious people to come to TDP for the first time since the 2016-2017 season.
The offer will be combined with three activities related to these theater performances, it said, namely two rehearsals in front of an audience and a historical district walk followed by a visit to the theatre.
Residents of the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district can already reserve their seats for the autumn plays Les Plouffe and Le roi danse. Tickets for the 2024 winter performances, namely Spring Awakening and The Glass Menagerie, will be available from December 9th.
“I am very happy to start the TDP project, your neighborhood theater, a structuring, democratic initiative at the heart of MHM,” said Théâtre Denise-Pelletier managing director Stéphanie Laurin on Tuesday.
Proof of residence is required when picking up the tickets.
