A Texas woman says she nearly died after someone hurled a SPEAR through her car window in a “random attack” while driving – the weapon missing her by inches

A Texas motorist was reeling after a spear smashed through her windshield in what appeared to be a random attack on Sunday, leaving police at a loss.

Shavone Canales, a 36-year-old mother from San Antonio, pulled out her cellphone to record the aftermath of the incident and show how close she was to death from the weapon of war.

The clip was then posted on TikTok, where it garnered more than 8 million views, with users expressing disbelief at what they were seeing.

Behind the camera, Canales can be heard saying, “She almost died,” as the five-foot pike stopped inches from where she had been sitting. A first responder is seen expressing similar sentiments as he pulls the spear from her windshield and tells Canales to be glad she’s alive.

Calling the attack “completely random,” Canales also says she was “driving 40, 45 miles an hour” when the spear shattered the glass just inches from her face.

“I heard an explosion and I ducked and when I looked up there was a whole spear there,” Canales recalled to the San Antonio Express, which was going to a friend’s house at 9:15 p.m. when the incident happened. News on Tuesday as her clip continued to circulate.

“It was quite a scary event,” she added in one of two TikToks. ‘I was not expecting that.’

She said she was stopped seconds after the 911 call and 911 was called.

The sharp end of the spear penetrated almost the entire width of their vehicle, which was struck as it passed the Best Western Hotel off Interstate 10 8669 as Canales was about to enter the freeway.

A clip – in which the Texas mother tells her more than 5,000 followers that she “almost died” – shows the gun still in the same place she stopped during the scare.

“So yeah, guys, I almost died,” Canales says.

“Someone threw a spear through my car tonight and I just thought I’d show you all how bad it is.”

“It wasn’t a street hoopla or anything.” “It was unprovoked and just completely random.”

In her second video, a San Antonio Police Department officer can be seen struggling to remove the gun after Canales said she was waiting at the side of the road for police to arrive.

“This is crazy,” says the officer, adding, “You could have died.”

Since officers have still not made an arrest, she also suspected that whoever threw the hunting weapon must have had some experience.

“I drove 40, 45 miles an hour. Her precision was pretty insane.’

While she herself was remarkably unharmed, Canales said she has to shell out more than $400 for a replacement windshield.

San Antonio police said Tuesday they have not yet identified a suspect in the case.

The incident came at a time of high crime in the south Texas city.

Currently, the state has a violent crime rate of 735 incidents per 100,000 people, compared to the equivalent rate in the notoriously crime-rich Golden State, which is about 447 per 100,000 people.

For comparison, the US average for violent crime is about 388 per 100,000 people.

Additionally, the city – like several others – has seen an increase in overall crime during the pandemic and into 2022, a trend that so far appears to be continuing through the first half of 2023.

Still, Canales said she remains hopeful officers will track down who is responsible for the spear attack — if they don’t turn themselves in first.

“I just hope someone gets in touch,” she told Express-News on Tuesday. “If it wasn’t me, it would have been someone else.” I just hope it gets enough attention now that they don’t try again.’
